FOOD DRIVE HOW-TO
1.
Choose the dates that are best for your organization to begin and end
your drive. If this is the first time you've done a food drive, usually
a week or two is best. Or, if you're having a special event of some kind
(holiday party, etc.), asking an "admission" of x-number cans of food
works really well for some organizations.
2. How much food do you want to collect? - Decide if you think your drive wil be large enough for us to bring you a collection barrell or if it would be better for you to use boxes that you have on had. If you'd like to have a barrel, we'll schedule a delivery and pickup for you. If you choose to use your own boxes, you may drop them off at The Food Bank 8am-4pm Monday-Friday at 6824 J Street.
Barrel sizes are: small which holds about 100 cans or large which holds about 150 cans.
3. What items
are needed? - Click here for our
updated
"What We Need" flier, which has a
list of items we always need at The Food Bank. Please feel free to print
it out and use
it for a poster around your office or school, tape it to your collection
boxes, print your food drive information on the back to hand out... however you see fit.
